신으로부터 받는 기쁨에 대한 주제
크리스챤은 하늘과 땅을 구별하는 분별력이 있어야 한다. 하나님의 영역과 땅의 영역을 구별하는 것, 즉 신이 다루고 행하는 영역과 인간이 행할 수 있는 영역을 구별하여 행해야 하는 것이다.

무엇으로 정의해야 할까?
그것은 신의 뜻에 따라 우리가 행하는 것으로 정의하겠지만, 과연 인간으로서 누가 신의 뜻을 정확히 알 수있겠는가?라고 묻는다면 그 해답은 아무도 없다고 사실이다.
신의 뜻에 100% 만족하지 못한다면 결국 신이 아닌 인간의 뜻대로 행해질 것으로, 그것은 과녁을 제대로 맞히지 못할 때 정의되는 죄에 지나지 않는다고 하겠다. 결국 신의 뜻을 헤아리지 못하는한 신으로부터 오는 기쁨을 누릴 수 없게 된다.
그렇다면 신으로부터 오는 온전한 기쁨을 누리기 위한 하나의 방편은 신의 영역을 제쳐 두고 인간이 행할 수 있는 온전한 행위만을 두고 생각하면 될 것이다. 인간이 신으로부터 받고자하는 기쁨보다 인간이 신을 기쁘게 하는 방법은 무엇일까를 먼저 고려하는 것이 본문의 주제에 대한 정확한 답이 될 것이다.
첫째, 땅으로부터 얻는 기쁨(이기적 욕망과 쾌락)은 하늘에서 얻는 기쁨과는 반대의 대척점에 있기에, 땅의 쾌락을 최대로 절제하거나 포기하는 거룩한 삶을 주장하며 살 수 있다면 그 결과로 얻는 삶은 하늘의 기쁨을 누리는 삶으로 될 것이다.
둘째, 세상을 고해라고 부르듯이 세상에서는 아픔과 고통을 피할 수는 없다. 그렇다면 그 고통의 아픔 속에서 하늘의 기쁨을 누리는 방법은 무엇일까? 그 아픔을 인정하고 고통을 마주하면서 그것을 극복하는 것이다.
세상 아픔과 고통은 그냥 주어지는 것은 아니다. 세상에 존재하는 신이 창조한 어떤 것도 이유 없이 존재하는 것은 하나도 없다. 결국 아픔과 고통조차도 신이 계획한 우리를 향한 존재 이유가 있다는 사실이고, 고통을 극복했을 때 가지는 성취감이야말로 신이 우리에게 허락한 진정한 기쁨의 교훈이 아니겠는가?
아픔과 기쁨은 동전의 양면과 같아서 고통을 극복할 때 비로서 얻는 것이 신이 우리를 위해 마련한 기쁨이라는 사실이다.

In the end, unless you understand God’s will, you will not be able to enjoy the joy that comes from God.
Then, one way to enjoy the complete joy that comes from God would be to set aside the realm of God and think only about the complete actions that humans can perform. An accurate answer to the topic of the text would be to consider first how humans can please God rather than the joy that humans want to receive from God.
First, the joy obtained from the earth (selfish desires and pleasures) is the opposite of the joy obtained from heaven, so if you can live a holy life that abstains or gives up earthly pleasures as much as possible, the resulting life will be heavenly. It will be a life of joy.
Second, just as the world is called penance, pain and suffering cannot be avoided in the world. So then, how can we enjoy the joy of heaven amidst the pain? Acknowledging the pain, facing it and overcoming it. The pain and suffering of the world is not just given. Nothing created by God in the world exists without reason.
In the end, even pain and suffering have a reason for our existence planned by God, and isn’t the sense of accomplishment we get from overcoming pain the lesson of true joy that God has granted us?
Pain and joy are two sides of the same coin. What we gain when we overcome pain is the joy that God has prepared for us.
