흥미로운 바스크 지방을 소개합니다!
“바스크 지방(프랑스에서는 페이 바스크)은 스페인 국경을 따라 프랑스 남서부의 해안 지역입니다. 피레네-아틀랑티크 주의 서쪽 부분과 누벨-아키탄 지역에 속합니다.
프랑스 바스크 지방에는 세 개의 역사적 지역이 있습니다. 동쪽에서 서쪽으로 La Soule, Basse-Navarre 및 Labourd입니다.
또한 북부 바스크 국가(남부 바스크 국가가 스페인에 속함)라고 불리는 지역을 들을 수도 있습니다.
대부분의 방문객은 해안을 따라 있는 마을 중 한 곳에 머물며 여행의 일환으로 피레네 산맥 기슭의 마을을 방문합니다. 해안을 따라 있는 마을은 각각 성격이 상당히 다르며 머무를 곳은 귀하의 선호도에 따라 달라집니다.

‘Hendaye’는 스페인 국경에 위치한 또 다른 리조트입니다. 이 마을에는 해변과 시내 중심가가 약 2km 떨어져 있어 특별한 것은 없습니다. 방문하는 것은 즐겁지만 바스크 지방을 탐험하는 것이 목적이라면 머물 도시로 선택하지 않을 수도 있습니다.
바스크 지방 동부의 ‘La Soule’ 및 ‘Basse Navarre’ 지방에서는 풍경과 작은 마을이 주요 명소입니다. 흰색 집과 빨간색 또는 녹색 셔터가 있는 이 지역의 전통 건축물을 금방 알아볼 수 있으며, 마을 건축물을 감상하기에 가장 좋은 장소입니다.
탐험하면서 다른 마을도 발견하게 되겠지만, 바스크 지방에서 우리가 가장 좋아하는 마을 중에는 다음과 같이 우선적으로 방문하고 싶은 마을이 몇 군데를 소개합니다.
Espelette: Espelette의 중심은 많은 아름다운 건축물이 있고 특히 집 앞에 건조시키기 위해 매달아 놓은 수많은 칠리 덩어리로 특별한 분위기를 연출한다.
La Bastide-Clairence: 스타일이 비슷하며 마을에는 흥미로운 집이 많이 있으며 지역의 여러 교회에서 볼 수 있는 전통적인 목재 발코니를 유지한 교회가 있습니다.
아인호아(Ainhoa): 아인호아(Ainhoa) 마을은 프랑스와 스페인 국경과 매우 가까우며 프랑스에서 가장 아름다운 마을 중 하나로 꼽힙니다.

“The Basque country (known as the Pays Basque in France) is the coastal area of south-west France along the border with Spain. It is the western part of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, and in the Nouvelle-Aquitane region.
The French Basque country includes three historical provinces: from east to west these are La Soule, Basse-Navarre and Labourd. You might also hear the region referred to as the north Basque country (with the south Basque country being the part in Spain).
Most visitors will stay in one of the towns along the coast and make excursions from here to visit the villages in the foothills of the Pyrenees as part of the visit. The towns along the coast are each quite different in character and where you choose to stay will depend on your preferences.
Biarritz is a large and vibrant seaside resort town, with a beautiful beach and coast in the town centre and a very wide choice of shops and restaurants. This has been one of the most popular destintions in France for at least 150 years.
Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very charming resort on the coast to the south of Biarritz with a sandy beach in the town centre, a busy town centre, and a harbour. The other side of the harbour in the small town of Ciboure you can see the houses where Ravel and Matisse once lived.
Hendaye is another resort, on the border with Spain. The town contains several distinct parts with the beach and town centre about two kilometres apart. It is pleasant to visit but perhaps not the choice of town to stay if the goal is to explore the Basque country.
In the eastern part of the Basque country, in the La Soule and Basse Navarre provinces, it is the scenery and the small towns and villages that are the principal attraction. You will quickly come to recognse the traditional architecture of the region with white houses and red or green shutters, and the villages are the best place to appreciate this architecture.
Although you will discover others when you explore, among our favourite villages in the Basque country there are several you will want to visit as a priority including:
Espelette: the centre of Espelette is very lovely, with the architecture enhanced by the numerous big bunches of chilles that are hung to dry on the front of many of the houses.
La Bastide-Clairence: similar in style, there are lots of interesting houses in the village and a church that has retained the traditional wooden balconies to be seen in several churches in the area.
Ainhoa: the village of Ainhoa is very close to the frontier between France and Spain and listed among the most beautiful villages in France.
Other villages of interest nearby include Sare and Itxassou, each small but with their own charm.”
